Irish singer Imelda May has teamed up with PETA by writing to Simon Coveney, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, to demand a ban on fur farming in Ireland.

In an open letter she said 'Fur farming is a shameful, cruel industry that simply has no place in modern Ireland... this barbaric cruelty is unacceptable in a civilised, progressive country'. On fur farms, minks are kept in cramped wire cages and sometimes skinned while still alive. Fellow anti-fur celebrity campaigners include Jude Law, Penélope Cruz and Anjelica Huston.
